You’re growing a whole new story, and it deserves to be remembered beautifully. I’m Sarah of Sarah Louise Photography, a maternity photographer in Westhoughton, Greater Manchester, creating elegant, natural portraits that celebrate your bump and the love that surrounds it. With an early-years background and over a decade working with families, I bring a calm, encouraging approach so you feel comfortable, confident and cared for from the moment you arrive.
Pregnancy moves quickly, and the changes are extraordinary. A maternity photoshoot is a chance to pause, breathe and honour this chapter: whether you’re drawn to soft, timeless studio portraits or something a little more relaxed outdoors.
My style is simple and flattering: beautiful light and minimal styling that keeps the attention on you and your connection with your baby (and with your partner or older children, if they’re joining).
Most mums-to-be book in the early third trimester, and the sweet spot for a maternity photoshoot in Bury is usually 28–36 weeks. Your bump has a lovely shape by then, and you’ll generally still feel comfortable posing.
If you’re expecting twins or showing earlier, we can bring the session forward. If you’re already further along, don’t worry.
Get in touch and I’ll do my best to fit you in.
At my studio in Westhoughton, Bolton, we’ll create elegant, timeless images with flattering light and a choice of simple backdrops and draped fabrics.
All maternity sessions include a pre-consultation to discuss styling, backdrops and your favourite feel for the session: looking for something more casual, or some of our classic gowns and dresses?
Sarah will help you choose the perfect look, so you can fall in love with your final images!
To secure your maternity photoshoot appointment, there’s a £50 session fee. This reserves time around your due date and covers your consultation, studio time, editing and your viewing appointment. You choose a package once you’ve seen your gallery, no pressure and no hard sell.

From the first hello, the pace is relaxed. I’ll guide you with easy, flattering poses and show you simple ways to hold your bump and hands so everything looks natural.
Outfit changes are welcome: floaty dresses, fitted knits or even a favourite pair of jeans and an open shirt can all look wonderful.
Partners and children are warmly invited to step in for a few images that celebrate your growing family. After the shoot, I hand-edit your photographs with a light, natural touch so you still look like you, on your very best day.
Once you book, I’ll send a short styling guide with outfit tips and colour ideas that photograph beautifully. If you have something sentimental: a scan photo, tiny booties, a piece of jewellery, we can include it in an artistic way.
Worried about camera nerves? You won’t be the first. I’ll direct you gently, keep conversation flowing and make sure you feel comfortable every step of the way.
Many families choose to pair maternity portraits with a newborn photoshoot so the story continues seamlessly when your little one arrives. If you’re interested, I can pencil your newborn session around your due date and keep dates flexible for early or late arrivals.
Absolutely. I offer relaxed direction throughout so you feel relaxed and look your best without stiff, formal posing.
Yes. Including loved ones makes the images even more meaningful, and we’ll keep it simple and natural.
Solid colours, soft neutrals and flowing fabrics photograph beautifully. I’ll send guidance after booking and I’m happy to review outfit ideas with you.
